Meat and Poultry Licensing Information
The 2025 license renewal applications will be mailed out in November and must be postmarked by January 15, 2025. If you have any questions on licensing, renewal applications, or would like to check on the status of your application, please contact our office at (785) 564-6776.
Licensing requirements vary depending on what type of operation or business you have and who your intended customers will be. If you perform multiple activities, you may need more than one registration and/or type of inspection.
Use the following chart and information to determine what type of operation or business you have, the license requirements, type of inspection required, what licensing application form(s) are needed, and the annual fees for each. All our licenses run the calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

Payment can be either paid by cash or check via mail, paid over the phone, or electronically by emailing the electronic payment form.

New Facility Information
Whether you are constructing a new facility or purchasing an existing facility, the Kansas Meat & Poultry Inspection staff are available to review the state and federal requirements with you and answer any questions you may have. If you plan to purchase an existing facility, our staff are available to perform a walk through with you, with permission of the current owner/operator.
