Cattle Feedlot Application

Facilities operating as feedlots are required to be licensed. A feedlot is defined as a livestock feedlot or feed yard with more than 1,000 head of livestock at one time during the license year, or any other livestock feedlot whose operator elects to come under the act. This definition includes lots or pens which are not used normally for raising crops and in which no vegetation, intended for livestock feed, is growing. Dairy confinement facilities are included.

Domesticated Cervid Permit
Requires anyone who raises or harbors domesticated deer to have a permit issued by the department. Deer includes all members of the family cervidae (deer, elk, moose, caribou and related species).

Livestock Dealer Registration
Requires the licensing of livestock dealers or order buyers by the department. This includes any person engaged in the business of buying or selling livestock in commerce, either on that person's own account or as the employee or agent of the seller or purchaser, or any person engaged in the business of buying or selling livestock in commerce on a commission basis and shall include any person who buys or sells livestock with the use of a video.

Tagging Site/Tag Distributor
Livestock may be officially identified on behalf of the owner or person in possession, care or control of the animals when they are brought to an approved tagging site. Animals requiring official identification may be moved to these sites without prior official identification, provided the site can maintain the individual identity of animals until they are officially identified.

An approved tag distributor may order, receive and distribute USDA-official EID tags with the "840" prefix.

The Tagging Site/ Tag Distributor User Agreement is used to maintain integrity of official identification ear tags, and control application or distribution of these tags.

Premises Identification Number Registration Form
The Premises Identification Number (PIN) is a standardized unique location identifier generated by the United States Department of Agriculture after the site is registered through the state. Producers will need a PIN for each geographically separate facility to order official ear tags.

Swine PIN Tags
To order swine Premises Identification Number (PIN) tags, first establish if your farm already has an existing PIN assigned to it by calling the KDA office at (785) 564-6601. If you do not have an existing PIN, use the Kansas PIN Registration Form to provide KDA with the information they will need to create a new PIN for your premises.
