Home MenuCommunity Rating System
The National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System (CRS) is a voluntary program that rewards communities for the work they do to manage their floodplain. Eligible communities must have a floodplain management program that exceeds the minimum NFIP requirements. As communities are accepted into the CRS program, they can offer their citizens discounted flood insurance rates.
In Kansas, efforts that have already been implemented by the state (e.g., dam safety program, state freeboard requirements) can contribute to a community's eligibility for the program, or additional discounts.
For more information about or assistance with filing a Community Rating System application, contact Cheyenne Sun Eagle, the State NFIP Coordinator.
The Community Rating System Specialist for the State of Kansas is Marilyn Sucoe.
