The Water Projects Environmental Coordination Act, K.S.A. 82a-325 to 327, requires an environmental review of Kansas water projects. This means other agencies are given the opportunity to suggest ways that projects may be modified to minimize or mitigate impacts before a water development project is approved or permitted.
This Act requires Division of Water Resources to provide seven agencies with permit applications to review and comment. These agencies receive the application for review:
Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks
Kansas Department of Health & Environment
Kansas Corporation Commission
Kansas Historical Society
Kansas Biological Survey
Division of Conservation
Kansas Forest Service
