Licensing Period
All Kansas pet animal facilities licenses run on a calendar year from October 1st to September 30th. New Licenses may be submitted at any time.
Renewal Period
The renewal period opens the first week of August and closes September 30th. Renewal applications must be submitted no later than September 30th to avoid late fees.
Notifications
License Renewal Notifications are sent by email (if a valid email address is on file) or by postal mail (if no email is on file).
- Email notifications will be sent from ah_notifications@ks.gov.
- Please contact the office if you have not received a notification prior to September 1st.
Renewing a License
License renewals can be completed online or by postal mail.
Important Reminders
*You cannot renew the license and must apply for a new license and pass a pre-license inspection if you have changed your legal structure (e.g., LLC to a Sole Proprietor), or the business has changed ownership.
**Registered businesses (LLC, INC, LP, LLP) must be active and in good standing at the time of renewal.
*Planning to Close? If you are planning to close your business rather than renew your license, you must notify us and complete a final closing inspection.
How to Renew Online
Step 1: Login to the Animal Health Portal at: https://ah.kda.ks.gov/web/
Step 2: On the Dashboard, locate "My Active License(s) Renewals"
Step 3: Click on the orange box next to your license to begin the renewal process.

How to Renew by Postal Mail
If KDA does not have an email address on file, a license renewal notice will be mailed to you via postal mail. Follow the instructions on the license renewal letter.
Mail the license application and license fee to the Animal Facilities Inspection Program.
