The Gas Pump program tests more than 20,000 gas pumps each year to ensure that the consumer is getting all the fuel for which he or she has paid. Compliance rate for gas pumps average between 95 to 97 percent. The program utilizes seven inspectors to test these devices every 18 months. Specialized equipment such as five gallon and 100 gallon test measures are used in the testing process. Gas pumps have the capability of blending unleaded and premium to make a mid-grade fuel but also have the capability of blending ethanol fuels such as E10, E15, E20 and E85.
